Frequently asked questions
What is dibsresearch MCP?
A server that speaks the Model Context Protocol (MCP), the open standard AI assistants use to call outside tools. It gives your assistant eight read-only tools for company KPIs, financial statements, SEC filings and economic statistics.
Does it cost anything?
No. It is free with a dibsresearch account, within fair-use limits of 60 tool calls a minute and 3,000 a day.
Which assistants does it work with?
Any assistant, desktop app or agent that can add a remote MCP server with sign-in (OAuth 2.1 over Streamable HTTP). The setup guide walks through the common ones.
What can it see in my account?
Nothing of yours. It cannot read your notes, projects, uploads or chats, and it cannot change anything. It only reads our data.
Where do the numbers come from?
KPIs are read from the companies’ earnings releases and reports filed with the SEC and checked against the filing before they are served. Statements come from the XBRL data in the filings, economic series from the agencies that publish them.
What do you store about my use?
For each tool call the tool, the time, the result and how many values went out, for 30 days. Not your prompts, not the conversation, not your search words.
Is this investment advice?
No. dibsresearch provides information from public documents, and every answer says so.
