Connect dibsresearch to your AI assistant
Add dibsresearch as a connector in Claude, ChatGPT or another app that supports the Model Context Protocol (MCP). Your assistant can then look up company KPIs with the table they were read from, financial statements as the companies filed them, passages from SEC filings and earnings releases, and economic statistics such as inflation, unemployment, GDP and interest rates from official sources.

Free with a dibsresearch account. The connector only reads.
What the connector does
Company KPIs with their source
Operating KPIs and segment figures as each company prints them in its earnings releases and reports filed with the SEC. Every value comes with its period, the table cell it was read from and a link to the filing.
Financial statements as filed
Income statement, balance sheet and cash flow statement, annual or quarterly, from the XBRL data in the company’s 10-K, 10-Q or 20-F. Each period names the form, the accession number and the filing date, and links to the filing on EDGAR.
Search over filings and earnings releases
Full-text search over 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, 20-F and other SEC filings and the earnings releases filed with them. Each hit has short passages and a link that opens the document in dibsresearch with the passage marked; a second link goes to the original on sec.gov.
Economic statistics with their source
Series on inflation, jobs, GDP, interest rates and yields, trade, energy and business surveys for the US, the euro area, EU countries and many other economies, from agencies and open-data publishers such as BLS, BEA, the Federal Reserve, the U.S. Treasury, Eurostat and the World Bank. Each answer names the publisher, links the source and carries the credit its terms require.
The connector cannot see your notes, projects, uploads or Associate chats, and it cannot change anything in your account. Every answer names its source and says that it is not investment advice.
Connect in Claude
- In Claude, open Settings → Connectors.
- Select Add custom connector.
- Name it dibsresearch, enter the server URL and select Add.
https://mcp.dibsresearch.com/mcp - Select Connect next to dibsresearch. A dibsresearch page opens in your browser.
- Sign in with your dibsresearch account. If you do not have one yet, create one; it is free.
- The page shows what Claude will be able to read. Confirm that it is you with your password, and your two-factor code if you use one (an account without a password gets a code by email), then select Allow.
- Back in Claude, switch dibsresearch on for a chat in the tools menu and ask your question.
The Claude desktop app uses the same settings. On Team and Enterprise plans, an owner of the organization may have to add the connector before members can connect it.
ChatGPT and other MCP clients
Add a custom connector, in some apps called a remote MCP server, with the same URL. The app opens the same dibsresearch sign-in when you connect. The server uses Streamable HTTP and OAuth 2.1, so there is no API key to copy.
Claude Code: claude mcp add --transport http dibsresearch https://mcp.dibsresearch.com/mcp
Then run /mcp in Claude Code and choose dibsresearch to sign in.
Tools
Eight tools, all of them read-only. Your assistant chooses which to call; you can also name one in your question.
- Search companies (
search_companies, read only): Finds a company by name or ticker and says which dibsresearch data exists for it. - List a company’s KPIs (
list_company_kpis, read only): Lists one company’s KPIs with definition, unit and the quarters on file, without values. - Get a KPI series (
get_kpi_series, read only): Returns one KPI for up to 12 quarters, each value with its period, table cell and filing link. - Get financial statements (
get_financial_statements, read only): Returns the income statement, balance sheet or cash flow statement for up to 10 years or quarters, as filed. - Search documents (
search_documents, read only): Searches SEC filings and earnings releases and returns up to 10 hits with short passages. - Read a document passage (
get_document_passage, read only): Reads up to 6,000 characters of one document around the words you are looking for. - Search economic series (
search_economic_series, read only): Finds economic and statistical series by words such as inflation, unemployment or GDP, for a country or region, and returns up to 25 series per call with unit, frequency, publisher and the first and last observation. - Get an economic series (
get_economic_series, read only): Returns up to 200 observations of one series, newest first, with the publisher, the source link and the credit that goes with the data.
Example prompts
Paste one into a chat with the connector switched on.
- What were Netflix’s revenue, operating income and net income in each of the last three fiscal years? (Tools it uses: Search companies, Get financial statements)
- Show Microsoft’s revenue by segment for the last eight quarters, with the source of each number. (Tools it uses: List a company’s KPIs, Get a KPI series)
- What does NVIDIA’s latest 10-Q say about export controls? Quote the passage and link the filing. (Tools it uses: Search documents, Read a document passage)
- Compare Visa’s and Mastercard’s operating margins over the last five fiscal years. (Tools it uses: Get financial statements)
- What are the latest US CPI and unemployment rate readings, and how did they move over the last two years? Name the sources. (Tools it uses: Search economic series, Get an economic series)
- How has the US 10-year Treasury yield moved over the last three months? (Tools it uses: Search economic series, Get an economic series)
Limits
The connector is free with every dibsresearch account. To keep it fair for everyone, each account has these limits:
- 60 tool calls per minute
- 3,000 tool calls per day
- 50,000 values or list entries returned per day
- The daily limits start again at midnight UTC.
- One call returns at most 12 quarters of a KPI, 10 statement periods, 10 search hits, a passage of 6,000 characters or 200 observations of an economic series. For more, your assistant asks again.
Disconnect
In dibsresearch, open Settings → Sign-in & security → Connected apps and select Disconnect next to the app. The app loses access within seconds.
- Changing your password ends every connection.
- A connection ends after 180 days at the latest. If the app does not use it for 30 days, you connect it again.
- Removing the connector in Claude or ChatGPT stops the assistant from using it. To end the connection on our side as well, disconnect it in dibsresearch.
Troubleshooting
The sign-in page keeps coming back
Start the connection again in a private browser window, or reload the dibsresearch page with a hard reload (Ctrl+Shift+R on Windows and Linux, Cmd+Shift+R on a Mac), sign in and select Allow. Extensions that block cookies on app.dibsresearch.com can cause the same loop.
The assistant says the server is “not live”
The dibsresearch MCP server is switched off for the moment, for example during maintenance. Your account and your connection are fine; try again later. The dibsresearch sign-in page says “Not available yet” in the same case.
The assistant reports a fair-use limit
The message names the limit and says when to try again: within a minute for the per-minute limit, after midnight UTC for the daily ones. “The server is busy right now” means many calls arrived together; try again in a few seconds.
A value is marked provisional
Every value the connector serves has passed our checks against the filing it was read from. A value marked provisional is still waiting for its second reading and can change. Your assistant should say so when it uses one.
A series is not offered or is withheld
The connector serves an economic series only if its publisher’s terms allow it and its data is complete and recent. A series that is withheld comes back after its next successful refresh. Series from publishers that the terms do not cover are not offered at all, so the assistant cannot read them through the connector.
A document link asks me to sign in
Document links open the document in dibsresearch with the passage marked, which needs a signed-in dibsresearch account. Each answer also carries the link to the original document on sec.gov.
The connection stopped working
A password change, a disconnect in Settings or 30 days without use end a connection. Connect again from your assistant’s connector settings.
Privacy
- For each connection we keep the app’s name, the host it returns to, when you connected and when the app last renewed its access.
- For each tool call we log the tool, the time, the result and how many values went out, and keep that log for 30 days. We do not store your prompts, the conversation or what a call asked for, such as search words.
- Your conversation is processed by the provider of your assistant, for example Anthropic for Claude or OpenAI for ChatGPT, under that provider’s terms. dibsresearch receives only the tool calls.
- Connections and the call log are part of your data export and are deleted with your account.
The details are in section 9 of our privacy policy.
